What's Your Trademark?

trade·mark
noun \-ˌmärk\
Definition of TRADEMARK

1: a device (as a word) pointing distinctly to the origin or ownership of merchandise to which it is applied and legally reserved to the exclusive use of the owner as maker or seller.

2: a distinguishing characteristic or feature firmly associated with a person or thing. {M-W}

I know, I know, I didn't do yesterday's prompt ("my computer space"). This oversight happened for two reasons:
~ I was feverishly cleaning my computer space.
~ I put off feverishly cleaning my computer space until late, and decided to give up without a fight.

J'excuse.

But today is another day, and I will try to do better.

Day 7: Your Trademark

Ok, so that's my favicon. But I really like it, and in a sense it is a type of trademark.

Also probably not what the prompt intended, but this is the avatar I designed/drew myself a couple years ago. I still like it, but I've been mulling over a new design now that my darling husband is out of the Guard. Sometime when I have more artistic inspiration and less hanging over my head, you might see a new "me" pop up.

The most "trademark" thing about me would be my tree of life earrings. They're my go-to jewelry whenever I feel too plain before leaving the house. I love them.

Keep Calm and Drink Hot Chocolate

February Photo Challenge, Day 5: Food/Drink Addiction

I'm feeling under the weather, so today's isn't the picture I'd love to share: a hot chocolate actually fixed up with all the trimmings of goodness. Instead, I'm just showing the bare bones basics, which will head right back to the cupboard as soon as I'm done posting.

I will tell you, though, that my hot chocolate addiction has seen me through countless exams, papers, and projects. I use milk, not water, and sometimes I add cinnamon or nutmeg or whipped cream on top to jazz it up a bit...but lately it's been these fun snowman marshmallows, melted for a few seconds in the microwave to make them just right on the hot chocolate. Now that I've rhapsodized about my most special drink, I'm looking forward to tomorrow, when I plan to enjoy this addiction once again.

Saturday...I can't believe I'm still crafty!

I'm sorry for missing yesterday's post; we had family from out of town staying with us yesterday, and the blog had to take a backburner to catching up and enjoying our time as much as possible before they had to leave this afternoon.

So, this post will have to combine yesterday's post with today's: Day 3, I'm crafty, and Day 4, I can't believe I still...

Day 3:

I looked around and realized I am not nearly as crafty as I think I am...or if I am, there's not much evidence of it around the house. Here is a sweater project from earlier this fall that thankfully is much nearer completion now.

Day 4:

I can't believe I still am so amazed and mesmerized by the moon...it's the first think I look for when I walk out under the night sky, and I've made others who are with me tilt their heads back, expecting some stunning sight from the quick motion of my head. Instead, they find the moon, looking much as it always does in its monthly cycle of waxing and waning. My husband has gotten used to me running for the camera when I have a particularly exciting chance at capturing the moon.

Or even those less exciting chances. You might call me a "lunatic." ;)

Groundhog Day

February Photo Challenge, Day 2: Groundhog Day

Other than the fun crafts I enjoyed in elementary school, Ground Hog Day has never held much interest for me. Ground hogs around here are a little intimidating (unless you are a country boy in a big truck, in which case they become a challenging new twist on Frogger). Normally, by February 2nd I'm ready for winter to be over and spring to begin. That rodent up north always seems to predict the wrong weather, because the time between the beginning of February and the end of March always seems to hold cold, windy, icky weather, and sometimes a blizzard or two. This year I don't trust him, either...mainly because we haven't actually had a winter yet, so I'm concerned what "six more weeks of non-winter" might become. Thus, Mr. Punxsutawney Phil, I'm afraid we'll have to part ways.

Instead, I thought of a Bill Murray-style Groundhog Day, doing something just to get up the following day to have it happen all over again. I could have taken pictures of the dishes, sweeping the floor, or homework not being done, but instead I chose something that always seems to be hanging over my head, no matter how many times I try to complete it: the laundry.

Happy Groundhog Day!

Happy February!

I have a more traditional blog post in the works, but as usual, lately I'm struggling with putting my thoughts to the webpage, as it were. While I work on that and integrate into a classroom setting as a practicum student, I thought I'd do something more reliable, fun, and simply easier: a photography challenge. A friend posted a challenge she and another blogger are hosting jointly this month, and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I plan to. :)

This challenge comes from Cat at Raising Monkey, Loving Sarge and Sarah at Square Goods. Feel free to join and link up at Sarah's blog!

Today's photo challenge is "Secret Indulgences:"

My summer wardrobe won't be thanking me, but I have been indulging more often than I should in lattes and hot chocolate with marshmallows lately. It's hard to beat the one-two punch of extra-caffeinated energy and that sweet warmth that is so soothing.
