Groundhog Day

February Photo Challenge, Day 2: Groundhog Day

Other than the fun crafts I enjoyed in elementary school, Ground Hog Day has never held much interest for me. Ground hogs around here are a little intimidating (unless you are a country boy in a big truck, in which case they become a challenging new twist on Frogger). Normally, by February 2nd I'm ready for winter to be over and spring to begin. That rodent up north always seems to predict the wrong weather, because the time between the beginning of February and the end of March always seems to hold cold, windy, icky weather, and sometimes a blizzard or two. This year I don't trust him, either...mainly because we haven't actually had a winter yet, so I'm concerned what "six more weeks of non-winter" might become. Thus, Mr. Punxsutawney Phil, I'm afraid we'll have to part ways.

Instead, I thought of a Bill Murray-style Groundhog Day, doing something just to get up the following day to have it happen all over again. I could have taken pictures of the dishes, sweeping the floor, or homework not being done, but instead I chose something that always seems to be hanging over my head, no matter how many times I try to complete it: the laundry.

Happy Groundhog Day!

Laundry really is something you have to do every single day. Yuck. Not my favorite!

Very clever! We have groundhogs in our rock wall. They drive my dog to distraction. She is convinced one day she will catch one. I pray not!

That's exactly why it came to mind for this, Julie! I think it's that time suck of waiting to change the loads over and trying not to forget them that really tips the scales in favor of laundry over dishes. :P

Joyce, our dogs are fans of trying to catch rabbits, but I'd be a little worried about these beastly groundhogs getting to them. I hope your pup doesn't have that "pleasure," either!
